P'AROWO ORORE

2025

P’AROWO ORORE (“Face of Tomorrow” in Nengone, New Caledonia) is a speculative

journey into the future that explores the evolving relationship between human and machine.

The project envisions a world in which the boundaries between humans and robots dissolve,

giving rise to new forms of identity, ritual, and remembrance.

Through a series of sculptures, the work reconsiders the role of technology in shaping identity, culture, and our collective imagination of what robots are today, and what they might become. No longer perceived as soulless machines, robots are imagined as vessels of memory, diversity, and humanity’s evolving soul. In doing so, the project questions the ethical status of robots while challenging dominant cultural imagery and preconceived robot aesthetics.

Created in collaboration with Loan Favan, the series draws inspiration from the cultural heritage of the Pacific Islands: Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. Fragmented regions that are often overlooked, yet rich in symbolic and spiritual traditions.
